Two die as epidemics break out in DIK

DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Aug 07 : At least two children were killed of gastro and five others were admitted to hospital having same infection of gastro as the recent flood has devastated several residential areas of Dera Ismail Khan city.

Source said that in Juta area a kid identified as Ameen was pronounced dead having symptoms of gastro while another kid death was reported from Bataiser area. Five other children with same symptoms of gastro were admitted to the hospital who were brought from suburbs of the Dera city where flash-flood played havoc.

As many people were rendered homeless and vast irrigated lands of Dera Ismail Khan were inundated when the gushing waves of recent flood entered the area, peole were unble to get clean drinking water. As a result epidemics broke out in the area which have added to the difficulties of the people already under stress.

Locals have demanded the government and Station Commandar Brig Sarfaraz Khan to take immediate notice of the epidemics in the flood-affected areas and send medical teams to overcome the situation at hand.
