TANK, Jan 25: Two women and a child, belonging to the Mehsud Internally Displaced Families (IDPs) fell prey to the chilly weather in their makeshift houses made of bushes in Gomal and adjoining areas here on Wednesday.
Sources said that few days back with snowfall on the nearby mountains, the mercury dropped while the Mehsud IDPs living in makeshift houses were not able to keep themselves warm in the intense weather due to lack of quilts and other necessary items which resulted in the death and spread of various diseases among the IDPs.
Dozens of IDPs families were living in Gomal, Narseries, Sinder, Ragzai, Manjai, New Abadi, Garnai and other Union Councils of Tank city which lies at the border of South Waziristan Agency (SWA) where operation against the militants loyal to slain Tehrek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) commander Baitullah Mehsud was launched in 2009. Since then the Mehsud families were forced to stay away from SWA and they were living in harsh and unfriendly environment and fell several times prey to various epidemics and other disasters.
With the coming of chilly weather due to snowfall, the IDPs lost one child identified as Usman who was three years old in Sinder area. Family of the deceased said that they were living in harsh environment long time ago, complaining that government and private organizations were extending help to the influential families while poor were left helpless and were forced to live in an environment where life is not possible.
Two other women belonging to separate IDPs families were first caught by fever due to intense prevailing cold and then lost their lives in Nurseries and Ruknai areas where IDPs were living in houses made up of bushes because they were not able to construct mud houses.
Meanwhile, it was also reported that two other women were caught by fever and then subsequently paralysed due to lack of proper medicine and other basic facilities. The families heads complained that they were not even able to feed their inmates and to provide medicine to the sick was not possible for them.
The IDPs complained that as Mehsud area has no Member of the National Assembly because election were not held in their constituency and Senator Saleh Shah has never turned his way towards them to listen to their miseries once in the last four years, adding that neither politicians from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa visited the poor Mehsud IDPs nor any head of the major political parties came to witness IDPs worsening condition.
The political administration and even the army officers were not coming to redress our grievances who were making tall claims that IDPs were living in better environment. IDPs complained that media also was not projecting and gathering news related to the miseries of the IDPs.
They demanded of the government to pay heed to the miseries of Mehsud tribe IDPs who are living in the terrible conditions for the last three years and initiate measures for their help on war footing basis.

15 kidnapped FC troops killed to avenge colleagues’ killing: TTP
15 kidnapped FC troops killed to avenge colleagues’ killing: TTP

PESHAWAR, Jan 05: The banned Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) claimed on Thursday to have killed 15 Frontier Constabulary (FC) personnel, who were kidnapped from Mullazai Fort in Tank on Dec 23, to avenge the killing of their colleagues in Landikotal.
According to pamphlets distributed by the Taliban to the media,it was stated that on Jan 01, the security forces of Pakistan killed TTP fighters, one woman and also arrested women and five infants in Kramana area of Landikotal tehsil in Khyber Agency during a military operation.
Taliban questioned the officials of Pakistani government, saying that if officials were declaring Rashid Hussain, 29 years old son of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Information Minister Mian Iftikhar, as infant, then how the five infants arrested by the security forces during operation in Landikotal can be declared militants.
Sending the “New Year gift” to the government of Pakistan, TTP killed the 15 kidnapped FC personnel to avenge the killing of their colleagues.
It was also stated in the pamphlet that it was the beginning, and the government should wait for more turbulent news, adding that video of the kidnapped FC personnel’s killing would be released in the coming days to teach a lesson to “infidels and their friends.”
Later on, during telephonic calls from undisclosed location to various reporters, the TTP spokesman Ihsanullah Ihsan claimed to have killed all the 15 kidnapped FC personnel, saying that their bodies were dumped near Shawa area of North Waziristan Agency.
“The FC personnel were killed as a consequence of an operation by security forces in Khyber Agency,” the spokesman said.
Sources said that Qari Kamran, a top TTP commander, was reportedly killed along with 12 other militants, while some women and children were also taken into custody by the security forces during the operation in the Karmana area of Landikotal.
Security officials, confirming the information of the dead bodies, did not comment further on the identities or the number of soldiers killed.
In a written statement, the TTP said: “It was against Pashtoon tradition and culture that the women and children had been taken by security forces into custody during operation.”
On Dec 22, 2011, fighters of the TTP disguised in Frontier Constabulary uniform, armed with sophisticated weapons overrun Mullazai Fort manned by FC personnel, killing one personnel and kidnapped 15 others besides setting the fort on fire.
Officials earlier disclosed that kidnapped soldiers were identified as Sobedar Bawar Khan, Naib Sobedar Alia Mir, Havaldars Jan Afzal, Badshah Khan, Naik Zabtha Khan, Lance Naik Nisar Gul, soldiers Muhammad Aslam, Khan Talab, Shafiur Rehman, Shakeel Gul, Talif Khan, Rahid Khan, Amjad Ali, and Muhammad Arif. Law enforcement agencies launched repeated raids to recover the missing FC personnel but failed to rescue the abductees which finally met their fate according to the claim of TTP.
The killing of 15 FC personnel also negates the media hype that Pakistani Taliban have declared to stop war against the Pakistani forces on the directives of Mullah Omar who asked the Pakistani Taliban and other militant groups to stop toppling their own governments rather enhance support to the Afghan Taliban to accelerate war against the US led Nato forces.

Mullah Omar not directed TTP to stop war against Pakistani govt: TTP spokesman
Mullah Omar not directed TTP to stop war against Pakistani govt: TTP spokesman
Saleem Mehsud
PESHAWAR, Jan 04: Denying and reacting angrily to the media reports, the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) spokesman Ihsanullah Ihsan on Wednesday said that neither Mullah Mohammad Omar has directed TTP fighters to stop fighting with the government of Pakistan nor TTP commanders informed the local and international media that TTP will end war with the Pakistani government.
Talking to Saleem Mehsud from an undisclosed location TTP main spokesman Ihsanullah Ihsan and TTP spokesman for Mohmand Agency chapter Sajjad Mohmand, claimed responsibility for Tuesday’s attacks in Peshawar and Landikotal, saying that attacks were launched to avenge the killing of their colleagues being killed by the law enforcement agencies personnel in Landikotal. Both the TTP spokesmen said that attacks were also the evidence that TTP will continue its war against the government of Pakistan till complete implementation of Shariah in the entire country.
They denied the media reports that TTP was negotiating peace deal with the government, saying that current attacks claimed by the TTP would remove the ambiguity that TTP was negotiating any peace deal with the government. “The reasons on the basis of which the Taliban were against the US, the same reasons were found and present in Pakistan so our fight with the Pakistani government will continue till the implementation of Shariah,” Ihsan added.
Spokesman for TTP, headed by Hakimullah Mahsud, confirmed to have agreed with rest of the militant organisations in North Waziristan Agency on avoiding killing of innocent people and kidnapping for ransom, saying that various militant groups were operating in North Waziristan and all the organizations mutually constituted a Shura to deal any violent act according to Shariah. Ihsan said that the Shura’s work was just confined to the North Waziristan and the Shura was formulated because Shariah was not imposed in North Waziristan as implemented by the TTP in other tribal regions.
He said the TTP would extend all kinds of cooperation to the five-member Taliban Shura, established in North Waziristan for the implementation of Shariah in the said tribal region.
Ihsanullah argued that the Taliban joint Shura or council has in fact been formed for tackling two major issues i.e. to find an end to frequent incidents of kidnapping for ransom and killing of innocent people, especially those picked up by unknown people in the tribal areas and executed on charges of spying for the US forces.
Asked about reports attributed to the Afghan Taliban supreme leader Mullah Mohammad Omar urging Pakistani Taliban to stop their fight in Pakistan and instead support them in liberating Afghanistan from the ‘occupying forces’, he declined that Mullah Omar directed TTP to stop war with Pakistani government but said they would operate both in Pakistan and Afghanistan.
He said that Afghan Taliban were fighting in Afghanistan against the US led Nato forces and TTP will continue its war against the Pakistani forces, saying that Pakistani Taliban and Afghan Taliban are brothers and two sides of the same coin.
“For us Pakistan is as important as Afghanistan, therefore we cannot stop our activities here,” the TTP spokesman insisted.
He also denied differences within the TTP leadership, saying Hakimullah Mahsud was still leader of the Pakistani Taliban and Maulana Waliur Rahman was his deputy.
It is pertinent to be mentioned here that local and international media published reports that Mullah Omar asked all the militant groups including Pakistani Taliban to make an end to the fight with their own government rather enhance support to the Afghan Taliban where the fight against the US led Nato forces was in the decisive stage. It was also reported that Pakistani Taliban had declared an end to the war against Pakistani government and decided to shift their fighting strength towards Afghanistan.
