QUETTA, Jan 08 : District and Session Judge Dawood Nasir on Saturday rejected the bail application of Balochistan President of Jamhoori Watan Party (JWP) Nawabzada Shahzain Bughti, who was arrested along with 26 others on charges of keeping illegal arms.
Counsel for Shahzain, Wishwa Nath Kohli talking to media in the court premises said he was very much hopeful of getting bail for Shahzain Bugti and his accomplices from the Session court and now he would approach the High Court after receiving detailed verdict.
The bail application was filed by Shahzain Bugti’s lawyer in the local court after the case was shifted to civil court according to directives of the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) which said that their case did not come under the jurisdiction of ATC.
It should be mentioned here that District and Sessions Judge Dawood Nasir on Thursday reserved judgment on Bugti’s bail application and his 26 accomplices, after hearing arguments of the defense lawyer here.
Sources said that provincial government had earlier filed an application in Balochistan High Court against shifting the case from an anti-terrorism court to a civil court.
The security forces had arrested Nawabzada Shahzain Bugti along with 26 accomplices deputed on his security and recovered a huge quantity of illegal arms and ammunition when Shahzain was coming from Chaman to Quetta a couple of weeks ago.
Shahzain had rejected allegations of keeping illegal arms and termed it a conspiracy against him by the intelligence agencies to trap him in fake case.
Almost all the political parties especially the PML-N have publicly condemned the detainment of Shahzain in arms case and investigation by intelligence agencies. Political leaders said that detainment of Bolach leaders would further aggravate the situation in Balochistan where the weak government is already grappling with scores of problems to enforce writ of the state.
