By Mohammad Saleem Mehsud
LAHORE, Jan 07: Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah , who had repeated verbal bouts with late Punjab Governor said on Friday that Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) had only political differences with Salman Taseer because he was acting as Jiyala of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) despite being constitutional head of the province.
Talking to media outside the provincial assembly here Friday, Sanaullah said that Salman Taseer had been working as Jiyala in the Governor House which he had confessed himself during his press conferences. He said that was not legal and also against constitution of the state. Rana prayed for the departed soul and sympathized with the bereaved family.
Rana Sanaullah deplored those who were shedding Crocodile tears in Governor House over the sad demise of Taseer and for blaming the Punjab government for his death. Rana Sanaullah said that Crocodile tears shedders have abandoned Taseer during his mission to sought pardon for the woman of minority.
Rana disclosed that Salman Taseer had asked Information Minister Qamar Zaman Kaira during his lifetime that his party has left him alone over the issue of Aasia Bibi which he was dealing with zeal to earn good name for his party in minority circles within the country and abroad.
“The sad incident of killing Taseer has happened after the confrontation between Taseer and the religious forces over the blasphemy law,” Rana said, adding that Taseer was thoroughly following the case of Aasia Bibi, a blasphemy convict, after his meeting with Aasia in Sheikupura Jail and Governor was adamant to his decision to seek pardon for the blasphemy convict through presidential order.
The minister said that Taseer sought Asia Bibi’s pardon as a political move to make PPP popular among the minorities of the country. However, he ruled out Taseer’s involvement in blasphemy in any way: “No he never committed any blasphemy, he could not,” said Rana Sanaullah who was the arch rival of the former Governor and there had been frequent exchanges of verbal bouts between the two through the media The Provincial minister said that Tasser’s killing probe has nothing to do with the government of Punjab.
When asked about the deadline PML-N set for the incumbent government, Sanaullah maintained that ten point agenda of PML-N was decision of Central Executive Committee and also voice of 170 million people of Pakistan, adding that if the government fails to comply according to the agenda then PML-N will act according to its decision announced by Mian Nawaz Sharif to disassociate PPP from the government of Punjab and opt for new polls.
Without naming the MQM, Rana said that it seemed as if the extortionists of Karachi have got their share and now they will revert their decision because PML-N agenda has given them nothing. However he said the PPP led government will fulfill their demands to bring them back into the coalition.
