MIRANSHAH, May 19: Blaming government for the killing of innocent tribal people, destruction of their houses and businesses, tribesmen of North Waziristan Agency (NWA) on Saturday demanded compensation for their deceased beloved ones, destroyed houses and shops from the government.
Talking to this scribe, one of the tribesman, Awal Khan Dawar said that his house situated in Miranshah Kalay ,half kilometer distance from Miranshah bazaar was destroyed completely besides killing of his 75 years-old woman and another Karor Dawar 40, when three mortar shells and one shell of artillery targeted his house on May 06.
Awal Khan said that his house and a nearby Mosque were destroyed when fighting erupted in Miranshah which lasted for more then 24 hours on May 06 besides injuring a woman and his child in the same area.
“This is not our first experience rather government has destroyed our houses and shops in Miranshah two to three time earlier besides the killing of our relatives but yet no compensation and relief has been given to us by the government,” Awal Khan lamented. He said that only names of the deceased and injured were written by the elders of the peace committee but practical steps in compensating the tribesman were not yet initiated by the government.
Another tribesman Kajalai said that around eight houses were destroyed during the recent operation in Waziri Kot area of Darpakhel in which a 17 years-old girl was killed while seven others were injured including father of the deceased girl. All arrangements were finalized for the marriage of girl but unfortunately mortar shell fire targeted her, Kajalai said.
He said that around 180 shops including weaponry, grocery, cloth shops were destroyed completely while 600 shops were partially damaged in the recent operation.
They demanded of the government to stop shelling on the bazaar and civilian population who are patriotic Pakistanis and also demanded of President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani and Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to compensate all the victim families on war footing basis.
