Six Ulema held for violating section 144

MIRPUR KHAS, Sep 18 : At least six Ulema were arrested on the charges of violating section 144 imposed by the district government due to prevailing tense situation in the city to avert any untoward incident, police sources said.
According to details, in Hairabad area two religious groups were at cross roads over the ownership of Masjid and seminary, keeping in view the sensitivity of the situation in the city the district government has imposed section 144 according to which the leaders were not allowed to held large gatherings and rallies.
Instead of imposition of section 144 in the city, Ulema held protest rallies in the city due to which police official arrested Secretary Publication of Ulema Action Committee Haroon Mavia along with six other Ulema and shifted them to undisclosed location.
Police sources said that detained Ullamas were arrested under section 144 and other cases of attacking police personnel and creating law and order situation in the city were also levelled against them.
On the other hand, after the arrest of the members of Ulema Action Committee, complete strike was observed in the entire city and enraged mob blocked certain main roads by placing barricades on them.
Meanwhile, in Madianah Masjid, Ameer of Ulema Action Committee Maulana Shabir Karnalvi has warned the government to release the detained Ulema and also transfer TTPO city immediately otherwise Ulema will remain on roads to record protest against the incident.
Extra contingents of police were called in due to prevailing tense situation in the city.
