TANK, July 20: The fifth phase of repatriation of Mehsud Internally Displaced Peoples (IDPs) to South Waziristan Agency has been completed successfully wherein 1,118 families of Tehsil Sararogha reached their native town.

The returning families raised the slogans of “Pakistan Zinda Bad” “Pak-Army Zinda Bad” on arriving to their hometowns in South Waziristan Agency, previously stronghold of Taliban loyal to Tehrek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) slain commander Baitullah Mehsud.

Earlier the registration process of the families returning to their hometown was completed at Political Administration Tank Office. The registration started from 5th to 12th July wherein inhabitants of Inzar Kalay, Sarvakai, Kachkai Saidaan, Shinkay Mela, Dray Lamay, Chag Sarvaik, Khwajak Gunday, Khadarai, Sarkay, Kacha Kach, Naraiy Raghzay, Ahmad Waam and Janata Village of Tehsil Sararogha got themselves registered.

During the fifth phase of repatriation 1,118 families comprising 4874 individuals reached their aforementioned native villages.

During the last four phases of repatriation 8,177 families comprising 38677 individuals reached their native towns in SWA.

Official claimed that a number of developmental schemes were undertaken in the war ravaged region including re-construction of the educational institutions damaged during the operation against the TTP fighters besides two cadet collages were also constructed in the region to equip the tribal youth with advance knowledge.

It’s merit mentioning here that scores of the IDPs after returning to settled district told the media on condition of anonymity that their houses were flattened during the recent operation and government was not taking steps to help the locals in the re-construction of their destroyed houses. They also complained that when the locals are living in tents and waiting for help to re-construct their destroyed houses then how they can benefit from the developmental projects.

The IDPs also complained that there are too many obstacles in shape of check-points in the way of entering SWA and also leaving the same. “Only registered Mehsud families can enter into the area because security personnel were not allowing Mehsud families to enter their native towns on showing National Identity Card,” the locals lamented, saying that government should accept our ID cards.

The IDPs did not comment over the recently distributed pamphlet by Tehrek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) threatening the locals not to come to SWA as they will be targeted.
