MIRANSHAH, Feb 09: Up to four suspected militants including al Qaeda’s local operative were killed in the US drone strike which targeted a house situated here in Bazaar of North Waziristan Agency (NWA) in the wee hours on Thursday.

“It is likely that Al-Qaeda’s local leader Badar Mansoor also died in the attack,” official sources said adding that US drone fired two missiles on a house situated in Miranshah Bazaar, headquarters of NWA and considered hub of the al Qaeda affiliated militants groups by the US administration, killing four people. It was also reported that several others were also injured ,some of them in critical condition.

The locals rushed to the spot and rescued the injured, shifted them to hospital while drones were hovering over the area creating fear among the residents. The house was also destroyed in the missile attack.

Badar Mansoor was involved in attacking the minorities’ worship places in Lahore and some attacks in Karachi, reports said.

Official sources shared mixed information about the killing of Mansoor who was living in Miranshah for years and was running an insurgent training camp. Reports say that Mansoor was the local commander of al Qaeda and was sending fighters to Afghanistan besides launching attacks inside Pakistan.

Mansoor was one of the chief targets of US administration and his death is a major blow to the al Qaeda’s abilities to strike in Pakistan. Death of Mansoor was confirmed by one of his loyalist.

On Wednesday, 10 people were killed and several others injured in the drone strike in North Waziristan Agency.
